About Beach Contractors
Who are we? Where did we come from? And what do we do?
Who are we?
Beach Contractors is owned and operated by local man Dennis Boyd who has lived in the area for 34 years, the last 20 at Waihi Beach.
Dennis started his working career at his Uncle's Engineering workshop building anything from vegetable grading machines to steel sheds from a few drawings on the back of an envelope. This can do attitude has served Dennis well over the years and his customers today benefit from his ability to think outside the box and problem solve on the difficult jobs.
Dennis is also a great racing enthusiast and was a founding member of the Waihi Beach Dirt Track Club and this is where you will find him on Saturday's preparing the track ready for racing on Sunday. He enjoys racing his Holden but also get's great satisfaction out of grooming the track for everyone to enjoy.
Today Dennis has a large team that help him to run the business and bring in areas of expertise to help with the growth of this local business.
Rob Street has been with Dennis at Beach Contractors since 2011. Rob comes from a building background and this has been invaluable in working with the Beach Contractors customers. Rob is often the first contact point with the Beach Contractors team and will happily see your project through to completion.
Dennis is fortunate to have his daughter Lisa working in the office and yard - she's a skilled loader operator much to the surprise of many of our clients! Also his sister Debbie is now his Business Manager and Mel Lyne completes the friendly admin team.
Where did we come from?
Beach contractors started in a yard at the end of Edinburgh Street in April 2004 which locals Dennis & Sharon purchased from Lindsay Brown.
At the end of 2011 the business had grown and they needed more space so Beach Contractors moved to its current location at 691 Beach Road and has kept building and expanding. Today the company has a staff of more than 20, a fleet of vehicles and machinery, a quarry, and another yard just outside Whangamata.
When Dennis first started Beach Contractors it was just about digging dirt and although that hasn't changed today he is now offering not only contracting and landscape supplies there are also storage facilities on site, Beach Road Quarry, and a much larger range of products and services.

Waihi Beach Dirt Track
Dennis was a founding member of the Waihi Beach Dirt Track Club and was instrumental in getting this started 25 years ago when they started forming the track from the original quarry tip head.
Dennis has enjoyed both racing and developing the facility the Club enjoys today. Several of the Beach Contractors team (including daughter Lisa) also race at the Waihi Beach track and this is something Dennis encourages and is alway there for advice.
